We offer a range of therapeutic, educational and confidence building group work programmes for women who have experienced, or are at risk of experiencing, violence and abuse.

Own My Life

12 weeks

This course is designed to teach women the skills to understand abuse and make sense of their lives and move forward with hope and positivity. It can be delivered online or in-person course to help women who have been subjected to abuse and trauma to regain ownership of their lives.

Power of Change

12 weeks

This course is a safe and supportive space for women to grow in confidence and self-belief. Together, we explore life experiences, understand the different ways abuse can impact us, and celebrate the strength and resilience each woman carries. It’s about recognising your power and supporting you as you make positive changes for yourself and your future.

You and Me, Mum

10 weeks

This course supports and empowers mothers who have experienced domestic abuse. You will explore the challenges and strengths of being a parent, while focusing on the needs and wellbeing of children and young people who have lived through these experiences.

Workshops

Our Coffee Mornings and Craft n Chatter run on alternate weeks. These groups are supported by our volunteers, and allow our service users to create social connections and find support in each other.

We also offer a range of activities to reduce isolation and improve their wellbeing and confidence. Recent groups have included fishing trips and creative workshops with photography.

Food Bank

Our Food Bank distributes food, toiletries, clothes, personal hygiene products and baby equipment to women in our local communities living with, or recovering from, violence and abuse.

Mental Health & Wellbeing

At Staffordshire Women’s Aid, we have a Mental Health and Wellbeing Recovery Worker, who runs workshops for service users around mental health and wellbeing. The workshops focus on identifying triggers regarding their mental health and helping to develop coping mechanisms.

New Start 4 U

We have a dedicated Women’s Support Practitioner working as part of the Newstart4U programme, delivered by Staffordshire Women’s Aid.

Newstart4U offers holistic support for individuals who are unemployed, economically inactive, or in low-paid work. The programme is specifically designed to support women who are looking to access employment, training, or volunteering opportunities.

Support is tailored to each individual’s goals and may include help with building confidence, developing digital skills, CV writing, interview preparation, and more. The aim is to improve wellbeing and support participants in becoming more financially secure.

Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, Newstart4U is open to women aged 18 and over who live in Stafford, Cannock, or South Staffordshire.
